Mr. Crouchasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he has seen the memorandum by the General Nursing Council for England and Wales on the implications of the entry of the United Kingdom to the European Economic Community with regard to the responsibilities of the General Nursing Council; and whether he will take steps to safeguard conditions for nurse training standards for entry to the Register and Roll and the exercise of disciplinary jurisdiction over nurses in training or after qualifying.
§ Mr. AlisonYes. We are in close touch with the General Nursing Council and the Royal College of Nursing about the draft European Economic Community directives on the freedom of establishment of nurses within the Community. We shall take their views into account when we discuss these draft directives with the Community.
