§ Mr. Anthony RoyleAll concerned share the hon. Member's anxiety about the rapid increase in violent crime, and are determined to combat this by every possible means. I am obtaining details of the measures taken and proposed and will write to him giving these.
§ 59. Mr. Rankinasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, in view of the fact that Hong Kong with 80,000 narcotic addicts possesses the highest number in the world, if he will consider appointing a Commissioner for Narcotics.
§ Mr. Anthony RoyleWithout accepting that Hong Kong possesses the highest number of narcotic addicts in the world, I am glad to be able to say that the Governor is already considering such an appointment and hopes to be able to make an announcement before the end of this month.
