According to records held by my Department the following numbers of workers in the steel industry in Scotland became redundant in the last five years:

9th May, 1967 to 13th May, 1968 2,230
14th May, 1968 to 12th May, 1969 550
13th May, 1969 to 11th May, 1970 550
12th May, 1970 to 10th May, 1971 1,170
11th May, 1971 to 8th May, 1972 1,470
Total 5,970
