§ Sir Alec Douglas-HomeI visited Bangladesh on 23rd–24th June at the invitation of the Foreign Minister, Mr. Abdus Samad. In Dacca I had discussions with President Chowdhury, the Prime Minister Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and my host the Foreign Minister on a variety of topics of mutual interest, including the situation in the subcontinent and the rehabilitation of the Bangladesh economy. I also announced a further £3 million worth of British relief aid. The visit was a useful one and served to mark the cordial relations which now exist between this country and Bangladesh.
