§ Mr. Dudley SmithThe organisation of my Department has changed since the General Election and it is not possible to make direct comparisons of staff deployment between divisions of the kind requested. The table below shows the main areas of the Department's work which are performed centrally and the numbers of non-industrial civil servants employed in them at Under Secretary 191W level and below on 1st July, 1970 and 1st April, 1972, the nearest dates to 18th June in those years for which statistics are available.
