§ Mr. Lomasasked the Attorney-General what is the position of magistrates on the supplemental list who move into another area; and if he will introduce leglisation allowing such magistrates to be automatically transferred to their new locality.
§ The Attorney-GeneralWhere a justice of the peace on the supplemental list moves to another area and provided that he has served as a justice for at least five years, it is the invariable practice of my noble Friend the Lord Chancellor to transfer his name to the commission of the peace for the new area. Leglisation is therefore not required to achieve what the hon. Member has in mind.
