§ Mr. Adleyasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he is aware that building employees on large hotel construction sites are presently withholding their labour in order to delay the completion date of the hotels beyond the date for qualification for Tourist Board grants under the Development of Tourism Act, 1969;and if he will take steps to ensure that this action is forestalled by allowing the respective tourist boards to extend their qualifying completion date beyond 31st March, 1973, in these circumstances.
§ Mr. Anthony GrantSection 15(2) of the Act will enable the tourist boards to give assistance to hotel developments completed after 31st March, 1973, if the boards are satisfied at the time that all the relevant work would have been completed by that date but for circumstances outside the applicant's control and that it had been completed with reasonable despatch thereafter. It would be for the appropriate tourist board to decide 87W whether the withholding of labour to delay the completion of an hotel ought to be taken into account in exercising their discretion under this subsection.
