§ 44. Mr. Dalyellasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what representations she has had about difficulties encountered by student teachers who wish to get teaching practice in schools; and whether she will set up an inquiry.
§ Mr. van StraubenzeeMy right hon. Friend has received no representations. The provision of suitable teaching practice places has been a matter of difficulty since the great expansion of teacher education in the sixties. The extent and rôle of teaching practice was one of the matters considered by the James Committee and a further inquiry at this stage would not be appropriate.
