§ Mr. William Hamiltonasked the Lord President of the Council if he will take the necessary steps to allow admission of the public to sittings of all Select Committees.
§ Mr. R. CarrSelect Committees and their sub-committees already have power under Standing Order No. 83A to admit the public during the examination of witnesses if they wish; this follows the recommendation contained in paragraph 129 of the report of the Select Committee on Parliamentary Privilege. My understanding of the position is that Committees are generally anxious to admit the public whenever they can.
