§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Secretary of State for the Environment why he will not issue an appeal to all road users to give way and facilitate the passage of vehicles such as ambulances and fire engines so that they have the right of way at all times, whether or not such vehicles are known to be engaged on life saving, so as to expedite their travel to and from their depôts, and thus assist in saving life and limb.
§ Mr. Eldon GriffithsAdequate advice on giving way to emergency services is already in the Highway Code. I have no evidence that road users in general do not follow it.
