HC Deb 06 July 1972 vol 840 c192W
47. Mr. James Johnson

asked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he is satisfied that all necessary steps have been taken by the Tourist Board to make known the tourist possibilities of coarse fishing in Northern Ireland; when an Anglers Guide will be published which includes a list of accommodation available, and maps outlining the wide areas of waterways where coarse fish abound; if an expert in angling is available to deal with the Tourist Board's inquiries; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Howell

The Northern Ireland Tourist Board has already been active in promoting coarse fishing as a tourist attraction and I am assured that as circumstances permit the board will be developing this tourist potential further. Publicity material on coarse fishing is already available, and the board is in the process of gathering material for a more detailed and comprehensive brochure, which it intends to publish next year. The board is at present considering possible arrangements for expert advice on coarse fishing.
