HC Deb 05 July 1972 vol 840 cc142-3W
Mr. Ted Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether his attention has been called to the lack of knowledge of local conditions by the Local Government Boundary Commission, exemplified by the issue of the wrong population figures for the Darlington rural district; and what steps he proposes to take to draw the attention of the Commission to this error.

Mr. Graham Page

I am not aware that the population figures for Darlington Rural District published by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England-Designate in its Draft Proposals are wrong. The figures used by the Commission were derived from the published Preliminary Report of the 1971 Census. But if the hon. Member cares to send me his figures I will be pleased to pass them to the Commission.
