asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what was the total value of improvement grants in the Inner London Area, for the year 1970–71, borough by borough; and if he will make a statement.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment what are the latest available statistics relating to improvement grants in the Greater London Area, borough by borough, in particular how many have been granted since 1968, year by year; how many units of accommodation have been provided, for rent and for sale; and if he will make a statement.

Statistics relating to improvement grants in local authority areas for the years 1968–1971 are published in table 9 of Local Housing Statistics for England and Wales, Nos. 10, 14, 18 and 22, respectively. Information is not collected about the number of units provided for rent and for sale.

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will introduce legislation to recover from speculators in house property the development grant when the house is sold within three years of its allocation.

Payments of housing subsidies to the local authorities in East Suffolk totalled £923,227 in 1970–71 and £1,065,950 in 1971–72. These payments include amounts which the local authorities were required to transmit to private owners and to housing associations.
