asked the Secretary of State for the Environment (1) if he will introduce legislation to ensure that commercial vehicles with an unladen weight not exceeding 30 cwt. are tested annually at a Government testing station;

(2) why commercial vehicles with an unladen weight not exceeding 30 cwt. are not subject to annual testing at a Government testing station.

When Government testing stations were introduced these vehicles were excluded from the scheme because they were subject to the MOT test. I am considering the need for any change in present arrangements.
