asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many grants have been paid under the Vocational Training Scheme to professional and executive workers over 40 years of age who were unemployed since the scheme was extended to them in March, 1971.

Grants were paid to 87 professional and executive workers over 40 years of age up to February, 1972. Since then the age limit for acceptance has been lowered to 25 and a further 115 grants have been authorised.
