Pennington, St. Helens, regarding the use of the Iron Maiden which fetters sows to the ground for from four to seven weeks; whether he has replied; and what assurances he gave to the constituent of the hon. Member for St. Helens.
§ Mr. Peter MillsMy right hon. Friend received a letter from Mrs. Pennington asking him to give very serious thought to the use of the so-called Iron Maiden. The reply sent on his behalf assured Mrs. Pennington that this had been noted, but if Mrs. Pennington remains uneasy I should be glad to write to her further on this matter.
