asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list the schemes for hospital building in Wales announced in 1965 to 1969, and in 1970–71.

I would refer the hon. Member to the information contained in "A revision of the Hospital Plan for England and Wales" (Cmnd. 3000) published in 1966. Between 1965 the hospitals built in Wales in 1960 to 1971, giving the date of commencement and completion and the total cost of each scheme, and the number of hospital beds created.

The following are the schemes costing over £1 million which were started in the period 1960–71.

and 1971 the following additional major hospital schemes were announced in the Supply Estimates:

  • Aberdare General Hospital—maternity unit.
  • Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny—stage 1.
  • Caerphilly District Miners Hospital—maternity unit.
  • University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff—main phase.
  • Hospital Services Centre, Cardiff—laundry and CSSD
