HC Deb 03 July 1972 vol 840 c49W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what amounts of Algerian currency United Kingdom visitors are allowed to take with them into that country; and if he has been informed that such amounts have been agreed by the Algerian authorities.

Mr. Nott

United Kingdom rules do not limit the type of foreign currency that may be obtained for genuine travel purposes.

I would not expect to be informed directly about Algerian currency restrictions but, according to information supplied to, and circulated by, the International Monetary Fund, the Algerian authorities do not permit non-resident travellers to take in with them any Algerian banknotes.
