HC Deb 25 January 1972 vol 829 cc376-7W
Mr. Meacher

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the level of supplementary benefit or national assistance provided for, respectively, a single person, a married couple, and a married couple with two children aged five and 10 years, at November each year since 1948; and what percentage of national average earnings are represented by each of these benefit levels.

Mr. Dean

The information about supplementary benefit and national assistance rates is contained in the annual reports of my Department, the Ministry of Social Security and the National Assistance Board which are available in the Library.

The information in regard to a married couple was contained in my reply to the hon. Member on 6th April, 1971.
