§ Mr. Redmondasked the Secretary of State for Employment whether, in view of the numbers of engineering apprentices who are at present on short time, he will take further steps to ensure that they receive suitable training of some kind when not at work.
§ Mr. BryanThe Government's initiatives in respect of the training of apprentices have been related to providing opportunities for initial training of young people who would otherwise have been unemployed. Responsibility for the training of apprentices in employment rests with the industry and the Engineering Industry Training Board.
