HC Deb 24 January 1972 vol 829 c318W
63. Mr. Hooson

asked the Secretary of State for Wales (1) if he will take steps to ensure that a consultant in ear, nose and throat surgery be appointed to be based at Aberystwyth;

(2) if he will take steps to ensure that the process of centralising consultants' services at Carmarthen for the Mid-Wales area ceases, and that consultants' services for the Mid-Wales area are made available from Bronglais General Hospital, Aberystwyth.

Mr. Gibson-Watt

I have no reason to change the Welsh Hospital Board's plans in these matters. They have been given full and careful consideration by the board and are designed to improve the consultancy services for the Mid-Wales area, and also for South West Wales, including those for the ear, nose and throat specialty.
