§ Mr. Sillarsasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will commission a new study of the economic problems of the South-West Scotland sub-region, in view of the continuing economic problems of the area.
§ Mr. Gordon CampbellIt is less than 18 months since the study "A Strategy for South-West Scotland" was published, and I cannot see that the region's diffi-148W cuties will be overcome by a further study. I welcome the moves being made by the local planning authorities in the region to set up a development authority, which should provide an impetus for the follow-up of recommendations in the study.
