§ Mr. Eadieasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what fresh instructions he plans to send to social security officers in view of the coal miners' strike; and if he is satisfied that existing staff will be able to cope with all new applications.
§ Mr. DeanThe staff already have instructions for dealing with supplementary benefit claims received from miners on strike, and special centres are being opened to handle such claims. These arrangements will be kept under close review and further instructions will be issued if necessary.
