§ Mrs. ThatcherI am awaiting the comments on the Green Paper, Cmnd. 4814, which I have invited from the Agricultural, Medical, Natural Environment, Science and Social Science Research Councils, from the Council for Scientific Policy, the University Grants Committee and the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals. The Chairman of the C.S.P. has reported to me the initial reactions of his council and the research councils. The views of other interested parties are being addressed to the Government's Chief Scientific Adviser. I have myself therefore received very few comments so far. Some accept the customer/contractor principle but are concerned about the extent of its application.
