§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Attorney-General whether he will make a statement on the recent visit of the seven judges of the Community Court of Justice to London; which Appeal and High Court cases they visited; and whom they interviewed.
§ The Attorney-GeneralThe judges and advocates-general of the European Court visited London on 15th and 16th November following a visit to Luxembourg last February by some English and Scottish judges. While they were there, the visitors sat in the Court of Appeal, the Queen's Bench Divisional Court and three courts of the Queen's Bench Division. In addition they were able to have discussions with the Lord Chancellor and English and Scottish Law Officers, the Lords of Appeal in Ordinary, a number of judges of the Supreme Court and representatives of the Bar and the Law Society. The Government believe that the visit served a very useful purpose in establishing closer relations with the members of the European Court.
