§ Mr. Pentlandasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry, in view of the fact that the Midland Electrical Manufacturing Company Limited has announced that it will not be opening its new factory in Washington, County Durham, when it is completed, at which 500 people were expected to be employed when in full production, and in the light of the concern that this has caused in an area of high unemployment, what action he proposes to take to assist the company concerned.
