§ Mr. Muddasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what provisions exist within the European Economic Community to prevent the transferability of registration of fishing vessels from one member nation to another; and whether it will be permissible for continental vessels to register in the United Kingdom to take advantage of British waters.
§ Mr. PriorThe registration of fishing vessels continues to be regulated by the provisions of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1894, which is of course a matter for my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry. So far as Community legislation is concerned, no measures extending to fishing activities have yet been taken under the provisions of the Treaty of Rome which relate to the right of establishment.
