HL Deb 17 February 1972 vol 328 c386WA
LORD AVEBURY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

What was the cost of the work undertaken by the Committee on non-ionizing radiations and ultrasonics of the Medical Research Council on safety standards for exposure to microwaves up to the date of the Committee's report in 1970; and whether Her Majesty's Government will publish a list of the contributions towards the cost of this research made by Government Departments.

LORD BELSTEAD

The review of the Medical Research Council's recommendations on exposure to microwave and radio-frequency radiations was undertaken by the Council's Committee on non-ionising Radiation as part of the Committee's general programme of work. I regret that it would not be possible easily to isolate the cost of the review which was met from the Council's grant-in-aid administered by the Department of Education and Science. No other Government Department contributed to the cost.
