§ Mr. Darlingasked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will assist local authorities to clean up the scrap collection depots for abandoned cars, road vehicles and domestic appliances, in order to eliminate eyesores, and provide a more speedy delivery of scrap to steel works, including the stockpiling of ingots in anticipation of renewed demands for basic steel for industrial expansion.
§ Mr. Graham PageMy right hon. Friend will be prepared to consider any proposals from local authorities for dealing with eyesores. But the speed with which scrap is processed depends on commercial factors.
