§ 61. Mr. Roy Hughesasked the Secretary of State for Wales if he will investigate what effects the lead emissions at the Imperial Smelting Corporation works at Avonmouth have had on the Welsh side of the Bristol Channel.
§ Mr. Peter ThomasExtensive monitoring in the area surrounding the works gives no indication that there would be any effects in Wales. Monitoring of the levels of heavy metals in the atmosphere, including lead, will be undertaken throughout industrial South Wales as a part of the study into heavy metal pollution which I announced last November.
