§ Mr. Scott-Hopkinsasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science whether she will call for a report from Her Majesty's inspectors of schools on the teaching standards and methods adopted in the lower stratum of comprehensive schools, in view of the recent low standards of achievement recorded by some pupils.
§ Mrs. ThatcherHer Majesty's Inspector's inspection programmes have included quite a number of surveys specifically directed at the teaching methods used with less academic pupils; and at these pupils' achievements. An H.M.I. survey on slow learners in comprehensive and secondary modern schools was published in December, 1971.
