§ Mr. Arthur Lewisasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer from which persons and organisations he has received approaches regarding the exemption of petrol sales from the value-added tax; and whether in view of the need for reducing prices and costs of production, he will announce a separate decision that the value-added tax shall not apply to petrol, and in the meantime reduce tax on this commodity.
