§ 55. Mr. Albuasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will instruct the Supplementary Benefits Commission to inform local education authorities when a family is in receipt of family income supplement or other benefits which would entitle the children to free school meals.

JosephNo. Recipients of family income supplements and supplementary benefits are advised that they are automatically entitled to free school meals for their children and are encouraged to apply for them if they have not already done so. It is for the parents to decide whether they wish to take advantage of the benefits available.
