§ Mr. Bishopasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is aware of the shortage of speech therapists in Nottinghamshire; what vacancies exist and what action he is taking to ensure better speech therapy facilities for the mentally handicapped and others, especially in Newark and district.
§ Mr. AlisonI understand that some hospital authorities responsible for services in Nottinghamshire are currently in need of speech therapists. As regards the general development of speech therapy services the hon. Member will be aware of the recently published report by a committee chaired by Professor Randolph Quirk on which the relevant authorities and bodies are being asked for their comments.
