332Wpercentage of population with the national average; and what action is being taken to draw the attention of poorer families in Twickenham to their rights to receive family income supplement.
§ Mr. DeanNearly 6,000 families in the London (West) departmental region and about 84,000 families in Great Britain were receiving family income supplements at the end of September 1972, the latest date for which figures are available. In each case these families contain less than 1 per cent. of the population of the relevant area. In Great Britain as a whole the take-up is estimated to be about half of those eligible for the benefit. No estimates of the numbers of eligible families are available for smaller areas.
