Mr. S. James A. Hillasked the Secretary of State for Social Services what discussions are taking place between his Department and British Rail after the four suicides by patients due to insufficient railway fencing adjacent to Knowle Mental Hospital; and what action is being taken.
§ Sir K. JosephA meeting was held between representatives of the Knowle Hospital Management Committee and the British Railways Board on Friday 15th December. It is hoped that agreement will shortly be reached on improvements in the fencing adjacent to the hospital and that work will start early in the New Year.
