§ 78. Sir G. Sinclairasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will give an assurance that the noise abatement procedures in force around the main airports in the United Kingdom do not reduce safety.
§ Mr. OnslowMy hon. Friend will be aware that some aspects of this matter are being, or are likely to be, examined at the current Inquiry into the Trident accident on 18th June. I can, however, give the assurance that no noise abatement procedures have been introduced or continued by my Department unless, on the best advice available, we were entirely satisfied that they could be observed without any derogation from safety standards.
