HC Deb 18 December 1972 vol 848 cc283-4W
79. Mr. Kelley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list the legal provisions relating to the duty of a medical practitioner acting on behalf of the Pneumoconiosis Medical Panel to return to the legal representatives or the next-of-kin of a deceased person organs which have been submitted by Her Majesty's Coroner for examination.

Mr. Dean

Post-mortem examinations in pneumoconiosis cases are governed by the Coroners Rules 1953 (Statutory Instrument 1953 No. 205). They contain no provision requiring the thoracic organs to be returned to the legal representatives or next-of-kin of the deceased.
