HC Deb 18 December 1972 vol 848 c283W
Mr. Arthur Lewis

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department whether he will publish in the OFFICIAL REPORT for the longest and most convenient stated period of time the number of trials that have taken place in London where costs to the Exchequer have been involved, the number of days each such case took, and the total costs in each instance.

Mr. Carlisle

Some cost to the Exchequer is involved in every criminal trial. The detailed information requested could not be obtained except at disproportionate expense.
