§ The Attorney-GeneralThe total number of circuit judges is 234; their average age is 58.2; there is no minimum age on appointment, the qualification being 10 years' standing as a barrister or five years as a recorder; no solicitor is, or is yet available for appointment as, a circuit judge under the Courts Act 1971.
