§ Dr. John A. Cunninghamasked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will make a statement about the situation and prospects at Sealand Hovercraft Limited in Millom where the employees are working without receiving wages.
§ Mr. Chichester-ClarkOn 4th December the 81 employees of Sealand Hovercraft were declared redundant due to the local financial difficulties of the company. Following consultation with their local trade union officials the employees decided to continue to work for the time being without wages in the hope that some means could be found of saving their jobs. It would not be appropriate for me to comment on the company's financial prospects. My right hon. Friend 43W the Minister for Industrial Development is of course continuing to take a close interest in the company's affairs.
