§ Mr. GodberThe United Kingdom milk industry is better placed to serve the United Kingdom market than are its competitors in other member countries of the enlarged Community, and I am confident that it will expand its share of that market during the transitional period.

§ Mr. GodberThe common dairy policy provides for aid to be granted on liquid skimmed milk and skimmed milk powder used for animal feed and for liquid skimmed milk used in the production of casein and caseinates. The cost of these subsidies is met from FEOGA funds. The United Kingdom will of course be contributing towards the Community budget during the transitional period, as provided for in the Treaty of Accession, but it is not possible to give a firm estimate of the amount attributable to these subsidies because of the many imponderables involved.
