§ Mr. Hardyasked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what were the number and proportion of children in England undergoing 11-plus selection procedures in each of the last three years and in 1965; and by which date she expects to see the end of selection at this age.
§ Mr. St. John-StevasThe Department has never collected statistics about the operation of selection procedures but, in January, 1972, 42 per cent. of pupils in maintained secondary schools were in comprehensive schools. Authorities are free to decide whether or not they wish to submit reorganisation proposals.
