§ Mr. Graham PageThe orders now before the House provide for rate support grants in 1973–74 of £2,875 million. The latest estimate for 1972–73 is £2,522 million. This increase reflects both the expected increase in local authority expenditure in real terms and the increase in the percentage of that expenditure to be met by the Exchequer to assist local authorities to hold down the level of rates.
