§ Mr. Muddasked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry if he will consider including hovercraft in the list of approved categories for qualification for the shipbuilding subsidy, so as to act as an incentive to hovercraft development and to encourage the diversification of shipyard skills and activities.
§ Mr. ChatawayThe construction grant scheme was introduced to meet a particular situation in the shipbuilding industry. Hovercraft development is being encouraged by special assistance of £2 million, as announced to the House on 20th March, 1972.
