What sections of the Children and Young Persons Act 1969 are now in force, and whether it is proposed to bring in any further sections, and, if so, which, before the end of January, 1973.
VISCOUNT COLVILLE OF CULROSSAll the provisions of the Act are in force except Section 4 (Minimum age for prosecution); subsections (1) to (7) of Section 5 (Prosecution of young persons); Section 7(1) (Minimum age for borstal); Section 7(3) (Abolition of power to make junior attendance centre and junior detention centre orders); Section 8 (Fingerprinting of young persons); and some related provisions in the Schedules. Some of the provisions which are in force are modified, as regards the prescribed ages, by the Children and Young Persons Act 1969 (Transitional Modifications of Part I) Order 1970 [S.I. 1970 1882]. There are no plans for bringing further provisions of the Act into force, or making changes in the prescribed ages, before the end of January, 1973.
