§ Dame Patricia Hornsby-Smithasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department on what dates, respectively, the Australian, New Zealand and Canadian Governments introduced immigration control on United Kingdom citizens.
§ Mr. KershawI have been asked to reply.
The Australian, New Zealand and Canadian Governments have always had systems of immigration control. United Kingdom citizens have been covered by the provisions of these systems at least as long as the status of United Kingdom citizen has existed, that is, from the time the British Nationality Act 1948 came into force on 1st January 1949.
