HC Deb 04 December 1972 vol 847 cc330-1W
Mr. Elystan Morgan

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the estimated cost to the Exchequer of repaying at par War Stock to those original purchasers who are now over the age of 65 years.

Mr. Nott

Statistics regarding this category of holder are not available and cannot be established without laborious and costly analysis of the stock registers. This would not be justified as there is no prospect of a partial redemption of this stock for the reason given in the reply which I gave to a Question by my hon. Friend the Member for Gloucester (Mrs. Sally Oppenheim) on 28th November.—[Vol. 847, c. 63–4.]
