§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many thalidomide children have been assessed by a team of assessors including medical, para-medical, technological and social service experts; how many have been provided with environmental controllers; how how successful this equipment has been.
§ Sir K. JosephWe do not know how many thalidomide children, if any, have been so assessed because the Department is informed only if, as a result of such an assessment, apparatus is recommended. No recommendation to supply it has been received.
§ Mr. Carter-Jonesasked the Secretary of State for Social Services how many effective artificial limbs have been fitted to thalidomide children; and to what extent they make up the shortcomings of their limbs.
§ Sir K. JosephThe information is being assembled and I will write to the hon. Member when it is available.
