Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what has been the result of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade examination of the common agricultural policy of the European Economic Community.

The GATT has not been required to examine the common agricultural policy as such. Certain aspects of it may be covered in the examination of the overall trade effects of the enlargement of the Community which is currently taking place under Article XXIV of the GATT.
